Rebreather event 2012 – A great success!

For the second time, Bonex was exhibitor at the rebreather event in Safaga in Egypt. Numerous Bonex customers attended the event with their own scooters and enjoyed fantastic dives up to 125 meters depth in a very relaxed manner. The test divers could do a full exploration of the reefs and move forward even in currents without a great effort.

Patrick Bonetsmüller demonstrated in his presentation the advantages of using a rebreather in combination with scooters. Especially to highlight is the great organization provided by Orca Dive Center who provided bottles and gases to 60 rebreather divers without difficulty, contributed the corresponding special equipment and provided a smooth course of the event.

Exploring Hemmoor/Germany the motorized way

Hemmoor at Stade / Cuxhaven, June, 02. to 03. 2012

The lake is big as is the community of divers with a scooter. We had high life at our event at the chalk lake. SAS presented their new suit models, a large group of dive students were busy entering the lake at entry 1 and Andreas Peters addressed with his guided scooter tours and courses not only technical divers.

Soon a large audience gathered to watch our presentation. Even short showers did not reduce the number of guests listening. Then, in small groups, we went into the water and put a distance fast between us and the diving crowd at the entry.

We were greeted with a lot of enthusiasm during the debriefing: “Great, with a scooter you can change arrangements underway and changes in the dive plan in the small group of divers are not a challenge any more” or “finally I have found the submarine and they waved and event took pictures of me” or “where is the deco beer – I have seen everything: shakers, airplanes, a shark – one dive per day is enough”.

CONCLUSION: We will be back to convince the small rest of indecisive dive crowd…

Review Bonex Scooter Event East Germany

Steina near Dresden April 19 to 22, 2012
With the awakening of nature in Germany in spring, you also start to see many divers again exploring the local lakes.
We have used to opportunity, along with the crew from InnerSpace Explorers (http://de.is-expl.com/) to drive up to Steina (near Dresden/Saxony). While the staff of ISE taught the Basics of Exploration Extended (BoE+), we (Sascha und Anja von Heynitz) have introduced the Scooter prospects to the technical sophistication of the underwater propulsion vehicles.

We then were cruising under full sunshine through the small quarry, built as an open cast mine. Though we had explored each and every corner of the lake in only one dive thanks to the capacity of the Bonex scooters, the diver simply wanted to get wet again after a short surface break!

At the end of the event, we saw many happy diver faces around the campfire, heard exciting dive stories and tales and experienced the Bonex scooter with a surprising souvereign status of the accus (after two dives of one hour each still at 88% of total capacity).

Yours BONEXTEAM NORD Sascha & Anja von Heynitz

Review: Bonex Explorationssysteme at Munich Sports Day

On July 8, 2012, we have been exhibiting at the 2nd Munich Sports Day at the course close to Munich. The weather was fairly well, though a few co-exhibitors had to catch their tents after some strong gusts of wind had passed by.

We were displaying our range of scooters, which found great interest and were tested by the visitors. We also showed the Bonex scooter shuttle, that Achim Schloeffel used on June 29. 2012 being the first person to dive through the English Channel.

Beatrix Schober from Munich filmed her first scooter test dive with a GoPro. After she completed the dive, she had decided that the ECOS from Bonex is now on top of her wish list.

Please see hereafter a few impressions of the event.

Achim Schloeffel sets world record diving through the English Channel using a Bonex scooter

On June 29, 2012, Achim Schloeffel set a new world record in diving by being the first person to dive through the English Channel. It took Achim and the project team nearly two years of preparation and planning.

The ambitious project was made possible through a combination of using state-of-the-art technology along with a mastermind of planning, commitment, focus and diving knowledge.

Achim was equipped with a Bonex scooter shuttle that carried him at an average depth of 20 meters through the Channel and allowed for a dive time of only eight hours. When crossing the heavy traffic ship line, he had to react fast to a tanker approaching him and dove down to 54 meters.

We are very proud of Achim to have accomplished the world record and would like to extend our warmest congratulations to him. We are very pleased to be part of the companies who have made this dive technologically possible.

Bonex-Scooter test event at the Blaustein Lake

The Wuppertal/Germany based dive center Tauchschule Unlimited (owned by Tanja Spiess) offers a thorough testing of dive propulsion vehicles to interested divers two to three times per year. On April 29, 2012, the Lake Blaustein close to Eschweiler in Northrhine-Westphalia was the selected location for the test event: 15 divers, all members of “Team DIR Bergisches Land” got introduced to the enormous power of the product portfolio Bonex Explorationssysteme has to offer.

And those scooters found fans! Especially the thrust of the models from the RS-line (“Discovery” and “Reference”) and the long runtime of the “Ecos” were highly appreciated. Both features enable divers equipped with a rebreather to surround the artificial lake in 100 minutes, cruising along odd things left behind by humans such as boats, car parts – but also a lot of fish.

When asked if the completion of this distance in 100 minutes is a good benchmark in comparison to scooters of other manufacturers, Patrick Spiess from Tauchschule Unlimited says: “I have no idea! Besides the Bonex scooters, there are no other DPVs that have a constant runtime of 100 minutes at this speed. Most of the other vehicles run out of battery after 60 minutes. So we simply lack something to compare to.”
